About the Department

The department was established alongside the founding of the College of Medicine in 1428AH (2007)AD, Following the blessed visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud - May Allah have mercy on him - to the Northern Border Region.  Actual teaching in the department began in 1433AH, with the teaching of Medical Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery course for male and female students of the College of Medicine, in addition to Medical Laboratory Technology courses in the College of Applied Medical Sciences.

Vision and Mission of the department

Vision 

Along with the vision of the College of Medicine, which is to lead in Scientific Research in the field of Otolaryngology  and to develop the health local community.

Mission 

This extends the mission of the college, which is to train medical professionals in the field of Otolaryngology to meet the needs of the labor market, conduct scientific research, contribute to the development of modern diagnostic methods, identify medical conditions, and assist in treating patients locally.

Department's Objectives

  • Teaching Objectives

The department teaches the course of Otolaryngology for fourth year students, the theoretical component includes the anatomy and functions of the external, middle, and inner ear, as well as common ear diseases. it also covers the anatomy and physiology of the nose, paranasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx, and neck, along with their common disorders. the practical and clinical components focus on equipping students with the skills and experience required for taking patient history, conducting clinical examinations of the ear, nose, and throat and recognizing some of the common tools and instruments used in diagnosis, in addition to performing selected examinations and well known surgical procedures.
